Creepy and interesting..

I have finally watched Vincent by Tim Burton , like one of his earliest works , a nice little stop motion animation short. It's creepy as anything and has the obvious Tim Burton look about it

...who doesn't want to be like Vincent Price

Something interesting...?

So i have to discuss something that i have done during this time of independent study, and as i haven't gone off to Bristol for the animation festival the only thing so far i have done that even remotely relates to animation , is watched "Fantastic Mr Fox" which i may have already stated is at the moment my favourite stop motion animation film.

this has occurred for a number of reasons.

1. The fact that it is a feature length stop motion film , which doesn't regularly ooccur in cinema nowadays seeing as stop motion animation has slowly become more of a niche technique to be used from time to time.

2. That it was directed by one Wes Anderson , seriously the most brilliant director ever , his films are always quirky , surreal and featuring Bill Murray who is ace.

3. That this is Wes Anderson's first animated film ( stop motion or otherwise) and he cracked it easily with still making it feel like one of his films , in particular the scenes where things are planned or you see a cross section of building ...

Im sure something more interesting will happen in the next couple days, and if not i'll just watch some more stop motion animations and write about them.

Look Pictures!!

Presentation revelations...

So, the other week we presented our group presentation on the characteristics of good/evil anthropomorphic characters in stop motion animation. From doing this presentation with my group my I have learned a number of things some of the most important being , You should  try not to present it in a conversational style , but  be more direct with your audience , and continuing on from this point to make sure that you are clear and exact with your statement with no muttering , umming or ahhing.

Along with this I found there to be a number of interesting points in another of the groups presentations about how anthropomorphic , and their specific characterisations help to target certain audiences , were a normal character wouldn't be able to penetrate said audience.

more life drawing

Just a few more from life drawing class , this time trying to capture movement in a still drawing by drawing the movement as it happens , which is quite hard.

Drawing...

Just a few scans from my sketch book , mainly mark making , drawing without looking , drawing upside-down and also attempts at perspective drawing in a train station.

Post it notes

This is the start of the 150 post-it notes that have to be drawn.

Balloon notes.

Just a little bit to do with the study of a balloon drop.

misc scribbles and notes

These are just a few scribbles , notes and such from my sketch book.

life drawing ( first couple of weeks)

a couple of weeks back we started to do some life drawing , thought i might as well put up a record of my attempts to do with this as well as everything else.

A little more stop motion stuff..

Just a few other little bits of stop motion animation i have done so far...

TOON BOOM!

the basic  animations which have helped me learn about some of the principles of animation have now been put through toon boom harmony , they look a bit better than the line tests. the majority of these look better when they are placed on a loop.

line tests.......

these being line tests from my 2D animation work ...rather basic but its good to learn.

Key words....

Apparently some keywords needed to be chosen to help with our research for our essay, so for my three key words i have chosen probably the most obvious things to search through the library's  catalogue "anthropomorphism", "stop motion" and its more a phrase than key word but "principles of characteristics in animation".....it might just work
