A gosh darn spider diagram!

umm , i realise that this may not be at all easy to read or for some even understand , but prior to starting my essay I through a bunch of my ideas revolving around my essay title to try and help organise everything.

to illustrate an essay

Within my essay there are some key points that i wish to put across and the best way to show these are to not only state them but to have evidence of them so i have managed to put together some stills of Wes Anderson's  Fantastic Mr Fox (2009)  to use as evidence...

intro

Discuss with specific examples the use of anthropomorphic
Characters in stop motion animation and how they
presented within said medium

An example that is perfect for this question is Wes Andersons’ 2009 stop motion animation film Fantastic Mr Fox. This is mainly because it is the most current example of stop motion animation with the use of anthropomorphism which is prominent within the core of the story, and because the fact that it uses the most classic type of anthropomorphism which is human characteristics given to animals.

It's hard ya know

i have found myself doing research for my essay , my concentration would be in stop motion animation and using fantastic mr fox as an example , but this freedom to create my own title combined with the fact that it is freakishly hard to find academic sources for the thing i want to talk about has made doing this essay really difficult even though its only 1000 words.

i was thinking about doing a question about how anthropomorphic characters interact with one another in films and subsequently how they interact with non anthropomorphic characters. i could relate the film fantastic mr fox to other things similar to it like wind in the willows , maybe even reference the its style compared to the book and i saw this interview with roald dahl's wife saying how Wes anderson captured a lot of Roald Dahl's character in mr fox , which Dahl himself intended in the book.

but who knows , i have to sort this out.

Creepy and interesting..

I have finally watched Vincent by Tim Burton , like one of his earliest works , a nice little stop motion animation short. It's creepy as anything and has the obvious Tim Burton look about it

...who doesn't want to be like Vincent Price

Something interesting...?

So i have to discuss something that i have done during this time of independent study, and as i haven't gone off to Bristol for the animation festival the only thing so far i have done that even remotely relates to animation , is watched "Fantastic Mr Fox" which i may have already stated is at the moment my favourite stop motion animation film.

this has occurred for a number of reasons.

1. The fact that it is a feature length stop motion film , which doesn't regularly ooccur in cinema nowadays seeing as stop motion animation has slowly become more of a niche technique to be used from time to time.

2. That it was directed by one Wes Anderson , seriously the most brilliant director ever , his films are always quirky , surreal and featuring Bill Murray who is ace.

3. That this is Wes Anderson's first animated film ( stop motion or otherwise) and he cracked it easily with still making it feel like one of his films , in particular the scenes where things are planned or you see a cross section of building ...

Im sure something more interesting will happen in the next couple days, and if not i'll just watch some more stop motion animations and write about them.

Look Pictures!!

Presentation revelations...

So, the other week we presented our group presentation on the characteristics of good/evil anthropomorphic characters in stop motion animation. From doing this presentation with my group my I have learned a number of things some of the most important being , You should  try not to present it in a conversational style , but  be more direct with your audience , and continuing on from this point to make sure that you are clear and exact with your statement with no muttering , umming or ahhing.

Along with this I found there to be a number of interesting points in another of the groups presentations about how anthropomorphic , and their specific characterisations help to target certain audiences , were a normal character wouldn't be able to penetrate said audience.

more life drawing

Just a few more from life drawing class , this time trying to capture movement in a still drawing by drawing the movement as it happens , which is quite hard.
